Fundraising

Every day Special Olympics Ottawa makes a difference in the lives of hundreds of people living with intellectual disabilities. That difference is reflected in their relationships with their friends and their families, as well as many other aspects of their lives.

Special Olympics is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides sports training and competition opportunities at regional, provincial, national, and international levels for individuals with an intellectual disability. Its primary objective is to contribute to the physical, social, and psychological development of people with intellectual disabilities through positive, successful experiences in sport. These positive experiences help build self-confidence, self-esteem, pride, and a great sense of accomplishment.

Your contributions will help athletes:

  • participate in the sport they wish in the community where they live
  • enjoy programs every day of the year
  • grow physically, emotionally, and socially
  • compete locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally
  • make dreams come true

We need your help!

Help us give the power of sport this year – Special Olympics Ontario is more than sports,  it is about the lessons learned on the playing field and the impact on life skills. Sports training teaches important lessons about perseverance, endurance, and setting goals.

Donate to Special Olympics today. For people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics is often the only place where they have an opportunity to participate in sport and competition, develop belief in themselves, gain acceptance from others and form life-long friendships.

Everyone deserves a chance to triumph, to overcome the odds and show the world that their ability is not their disability. With your support, more people will have that opportunity. As we begin 2010, can we count on your donation to make a difference?

Help us reach out to more individuals with intellectual disabilities.  Your generosity will make a life-changing difference. No matter what the amount, whether you can afford a gift of $25, $50, or $100 or more, please don’t wait. Make the most generous donation you can afford today.

Fundraising Event Sponsorship

Sponsor one of Special Olympics Ottawa’s existing fundraising events or develop a new, customized fundraising event.

•Sponsor an Athlete
Each year it costs approximately $1,200.00 to send 1 athlete to the National Games. $1,200.00 is a bargain when you consider that pays for the athletes uniform, transportation, accommodations, meals, as well as registration fees for the games.

Special Olympics Ottawa is looking for individuals, families, or businesses to Sponsor An Athlete. You can be as creative as you like. You can hold a fundraiser such as a pub night, BBQ, silent auction, golf tournament, mini putt tournament, hold a go-cart race, a sport challenge or anything that interests you. The sky is the limit.

We can provide you with posters and brochures for your event. Please contact our Community Fundraising Co-ordinator at fundraiser@ottawaspecialolympics.org or by phone at (613) 860-6184 for more information and help to organize your event.
